Position: Assistant Professor/Lecturer of HPEES — Physical Education
Teaching: Washburn University's Health, Physical Education & Exercise Science
Department invites applications for a 9- month ASSISTANT PROFESSOR or LECTURER
beginning no later than August 2009.
Responsibilities: The candidate must be prepared to teach: methods for
P-12, curriculum development, and motor development. Additional teaching
responsibilities may include: Introduction to Human Movement Studies,
Measurement & Evaluation and Lifetime Wellness. Further responsibilities
include but are not limited to: student advisement, supervision of student
practica, mentoring of student research, and demonstration of scholarship and
service consistent with appointment rank. Possibility of summer teaching.
Qualifications: The tenure line position with rank of Assistant
Professor requires a doctorate in kinesiology, physical education or a related
area, with a strong background in physical education teaching. Preference will
be given to candidates with evidence of successful teaching at the
college/university level, evidence of research, scholarly publications and/or
other scholarly activity, and P-12 teaching experience. Lecturer appointment
requires a minimum of a Masters degree in kinesiology, physical education, or a
related area. A Lecturer position carries the possibility of renewal and may be
convertible to a tenure-line position upon completion of all tenure line
qualifications.
Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor/Lecturer. Salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience. (Position contingent upon funding).

POSITION: Human Performance / Sport Management, Assistant Professor
(Probationary; Nine Month Appointment*) PRF #10030
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: August 17, 2009
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This tenure track position will teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate
courses in Sport Management, along with other courses within the Human
Performance Department. Additionally, they are expected to develop and maintain
an active research agenda, direct master's thesis, oversee internships, advise
students, and serve as a faculty advisor for the sport management majors club.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A doctorate in Sport
Management or a closely related field (Ph.D., Ed.D., DSM, DBA). ABDs will be
considered with doctorate earned by May 2009.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching college or university-level classes within
the Sport Management area.
• Demonstrated ability to teach: Foundations of Sport Management, Analysis of
Sport Data, Facility Planning,
Event Management and additional courses.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain an active research agenda.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology in the classroom including web-based
teaching platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and staff in a collegial and
cooperative manner.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
• Graduate level teaching
experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver online sport management courses.
• Demonstrated success in supervising master's theses.
• Experience supervising sport management internships.
• Industry work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of
students.
