ASSOCIATE/FULL
PROFESSOR / TENURE TRACK
UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE
Position:
The University of Louisville, College of Education and Human Development (CEHD),
Department of Health and Sport Sciences is seeking applicants for the position
of Associate/Full Professor in Physical Education Pedagogy, (tenure-track,
10-month appointment). The Department invites applicants with teaching and
research experience and expertise in physical education pedagogy at the
elementary school level.
Responsibilities:
1) Teach graduate and undergraduate courses that include school-based methods
classes and other classes related to NASPE Teacher Standards;
2) Conduct scholarly research and seek extramural funds in a manner consistent
with the university’s mission of becoming a premier, nationally recognized
metropolitan research university;
3) Contribute to ongoing program development in the PETE program;
4) Supervise student teachers and advise students;
5) Collaborate with P-12 schools on a variety of discipline-related initiatives;
and
6) Provide service to the university, profession and community.
Qualifications: Minimum
1) Earned doctorate in
physical education or a related field with specialization in physical education
pedagogy at the elementary school level;
2) Demonstrated excellence in scholarship that includes a research focus in
physical education pedagogy at the elementary school level;
3) Evidence of teaching effectiveness in P-12 schools and higher education;
4) A record of successful collaboration with P-12 schools that includes the
pursuit for external funding;
5) A commitment to principles of equity and social justice and to serving
diverse populations; and
6) A demonstrated record of working collegially with faculty, students, staff
and other colleagues.
Salary: Competitive, based upon qualifications and experience.
Appointment: Ten-month period, beginning August, 2010 contingent on final
budgetary approval, with the possibility of summer employment.

Sport Administration and master degrees in P-12 Teaching, Community Health,
Exercise Science and Sport Administration. There are 22 full-time faculty
members in the Department, and approximately 800 undergraduates and 100 graduate
