ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / TENURE TRACK
GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY
Position: Reporting to the Chair of the Department, the position is a
nine month appointment with potential for summer teaching. The salary will be
competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities: the successful candidate will teach
undergraduate/graduate courses in research methods and data analysis with
additional teaching responsibilities in sport psychology and/or coaching
education. In addition, the successful candidate will provide academic
advisement to undergraduate and graduate students; provide research methodology
and data analysis assistance to faculty and students; promote and sustain
interdisciplinary dialogue and service; hold membership in professional
associations/organizations; and serve on committees and participate in official
activities at the departmental, college, and university levels.
Qualifications:
Required: Earned doctorate in Kinesiology or closely related area by August 1, 2010; Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning as evidenced by a presentation with students present during the campus visit; Promise of productive scholarship consistent with the teacher-scholar model; Commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service that is consistent with the College’s priorities for the Department and the mission of the University; Ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the Department, College, and University; Technological literacy and a commitment to integrate technology in teaching and scholarship; and Commitment to professional service within the University and beyond.
Preferred: Minimum of one year of college/university teaching
experience; Interest in working in diverse academic and professional
communities; and Experience in online instruction and development.
