Qualifications:  The tenure line position with rank of Assistant Professor requires a doctorate in kinesiology, physical education or a related area, with a strong background in physical education teaching.  Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of successful teaching at the college/university level, evidence of research, scholarly publications and/or other scholarly activity, and P-12 teaching experience.  Lecturer appointment requires a minimum of a Masters degree in kinesiology, physical education, or a related area.  A Lecturer position carries the possibility of renewal and may be convertible to a tenure-line position upon completion of all tenure line qualifications.

3) SERVICE: Participate in faculty meetings and program activities.  Serve on School, College, and/or University Committees and contribute to professional organizations. Mentor majors regarding general career options, and professional matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Doctoral degree required in Physical Education Pedagogy, or a commensurate field, with a specialization in Teacher Education in K-12 Physical Education.  Applicants with expected completion of the doctoral degree before March 1, 2010 will be considered. Physical education teaching experience at the elementary and/or secondary level and college teaching experience are preferred.  For consideration at the associate level, applicants should have an appropriate record of teaching excellence and scholarly productivity.

Additional responsibilities include development of a line of research, writing grant proposals, and other scholarly activities; active participation in professional organizations in kinesiology/physical education; assisting the department in the promotion of physical education within SSU and in the SSU service area.  In addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities; participate on departmental, school, and university committees; and contribute to program assessment and program development.
