Position: Athletic Training, Assistant/Associate (Tenure Track) /
Conversion (ABD). Available for the Academic Year: 2009/2010.
Responsibilities: Instructional Level: Undergraduate/Graduate. The
successful candidate will normally teach courses and conduct research primarily
in athletic training, with secondary responsibility in any one of the following:
anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, clinical exercise physiology,
biomechanics, fitness and wellness, sport and exercise psychology. Potential to
become clinical coordinator or program director. Professional responsibilities
include but are not limited to: teaching undergraduate courses in athletic
training and undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of secondary
expertise, supervising student interns and clinical experiences, assisting with
accreditation reviews, developing curriculum, chairing or serving on thesis
committees, conducting and publishing research, seeking external funding,
developing collaborative relationships with sports medicine professionals in the
community, work with students organizations, community outreach and committee
service at all levels of university governance. Specific assignments will depend
on department needs. The successful candidate may be called upon to teach in a
distance-learning mode and to develop web-enhanced and/or web-based instruction.
Outcomes assessment and service learning are important components of
the university curriculum. Faculty members are also expected to
engage in service activities at all levels of the university and provide
academic and professional advice to students. The successful candidate will be
expected to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty.
Qualifications: Academic Preparation: An earned doctorate (Ph.D., or
Ed.D.) or equivalent from an accredited institution that is directly related to
the position characteristics described above is required for appointment to a
tenure track position. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may
be considered for a lectureship (temporary position) with the possibility of
conversion to tenure track upon completion of the doctorate. BOC, Inc.
certification as an ATC in good standing, demonstrated expertise in clinical
skills and curricular content common to athletic training education programs,
and clinical experience as an ATC are required. Certification as a clinical
instructor educator and college teaching experience are preferred. Candidates
are expected to demonstrate a commitment to and potential for teaching
excellence and scholarly activity at the university level. Candidates who
demonstrate active participation in relevant professional organizations in the
field of Kinesiology and who exhibit a history of leadership and professional
contributions to the field of Kinesiology are preferred. Candidates with a
record of or potential for scholarly productivity, and a history of or potential
for developing grant proposals and attracting external funding are preferred.
The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty,
staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Probationary Plan Process.
Salary: placement depends upon academic preparation and professional
experience. In some circumstances, exceptional faculty at higher ranks may be
considered.
