POSITION:  Human Performance / Sport Management, Assistant Professor (Probationary; Nine Month Appointment*) PRF #10030

DATE OF APPOINTMENT:  August 17, 2009

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This tenure track position will teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in Sport Management, along with other courses within the Human Performance Department. Additionally, they are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda, direct master's thesis, oversee internships, advise students, and serve as a faculty advisor for the sport management majors club.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A doctorate in Sport Management or a closely related field (Ph.D., Ed.D., DSM, DBA). ABDs will be
      considered with doctorate earned by May 2009.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching college or university-level classes within the Sport Management area.
• Demonstrated ability to teach: Foundations of Sport Management, Analysis of Sport Data, Facility Planning,
      Event Management and additional courses.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain an active research agenda.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology in the classroom including web-based teaching platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and staff in a collegial and cooperative manner.


OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

• Graduate level teaching experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver online sport management courses.
• Demonstrated success in supervising master's theses.
• Experience supervising sport management internships.
• Industry work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students.

POSITION:  Assistant/Associate Professor (Sport Management).  This is a nine-month tenure track position in the Department of Exercise, Sport, and Leisure Studies.

PROGRAM:  Students in the Sport Management program at the
University of Tennessee are offered the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a career in the sports industry. Undergraduate students earn a major in Sport Management with a minor in Business. A concentration in Sport Management is available at the master’s level.  A dual MS/MBA degree is offered in conjunction with the College of Business Administration.
A doctoral specialization in Sport Management is also available.

The Sport Management program is housed in the Department of Exercise, Sport, and Leisure Studies within the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. The department offers degree programs in Exercise Science, Sport Studies, Recreation Management, and Therapeutic Recreation in addition to Sport Management.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach in the areas of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior
Conduct quality research that merits publication in scholarly, refereed journals
Participate in professional, university, and community service
Seek external funding

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

An earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree in sport management or related field
Evidence of scholarly achievements/potential in area of expertise
Ability to advise graduate students


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

University/college teaching experience.


SALARY:  Competitive – commensurate with experience. Possible opportunity to teach additional courses during summer.

Position:  Adams State College is currently accepting applications for a tenure track position as Assistant or Associate Professor in Sport Administration in the Department of Human Performance and Physical Education to commence Spring, 2009.

Responsibilities:  Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of HPPE; supervising field experiences; advising undergraduate students; scholarly activity; service to the department and institution; additional faculty responsibilities will be explored based upon qualifications.

Qualifications:  We will hire a professional with a Ph.D., Ed.D. or ABD in HPPE or related field.  Faculty are responsible for a maximum of 12 credit hours teaching load.  The teaching will most likely be in the following areas: - sport law, organization and administration of sport, and facilities management. Some of this teaching will be for the graduate program in Coaching which is delivered entirely online. Candidates should therefore be familiar with distance education or willing to learn how to teach classes in this manner. We would also prefer prior college teaching experience. Additional related abilities could include the ability to teach physical education pedagogy.

Salary:  will be in accordance with qualifications and experience (up to $46,000). This position is a nine-month appointment with a separate summer contract negotiable.
