Description: The Department of Human Performance and
Physical
Education (HPPE) at Adams State College offers undergraduate and
graduate
degrees in the areas of physical education, exercise science,
sport management,
and sport psychology. Two graduate programs are currently
offered fully online:
MA in Coaching and MA in Sport Management. As we are committed

& Skills:
Doctoral
degree or appropriate terminal degree in sport management,
physical education, exercise science, coaching, kinesiology,
or closely related field is preferred;
Individuals
who are ABD or hold a master’s degree will be considered if
the person can demonstrate two years of relevant
teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
Experience
teaching online at the undergraduate or graduate levels;
Effective
communication skills with an emphasis on written
communication;
Ability
to meet deadlines and follow college policies.

formed College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue
University. The position will be available July 1, 2012
with a five-year renewable term, reporting to the Dean of the
College of Health and Human Sciences.
Responsibilities: We
seek an internationally recognized researcher who will provide
leadership, vision, and management in curriculum, personnel, and
faculty/staff development as well as serve as an advocate for
the Department to the College, University, and larger community.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be an academic leader and scholar

engagement missions of the Department. Applicants should
have scholarly credentials commensurate with the rank of Tenured

The Department of Health and Kinesiology is a diverse and
collegial department with 17 full-time tenure-track faculty, 2
joint-appointed tenure-track faculty (with Women's Studies and
African American Studies), 4 clinical faculty, and 6 continuing
lecturers. Research is conducted in the areas of public health,
kinesiology (exercise physiology, sport and exercise psychology,
motor development and control, biomechanics, sociology of sport,
philosophy and history of sport), pedagogy, recreation and sport
management, and athletic training. The Department is
highly interdisciplinary, with ongoing collaborations with many
of Purdue’s other departments (e.g., Psychological Sciences;
Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences; Mechanical Engineering;
Human Development and Family Studies; Nutrition Sciences) and
programs/centers (e.g., Center for Aging and the Life Course,
Oncological Sciences Center, Military Family Research Institute,
Recreational Sports), and organizations in the community (e.g.,
University Place Senior Living Community, Clarian/IU
Health). The Department is also the home of the A. H.
Ismail Center for Health, Exercise, and Nutrition; and the
Purdue Athletes Life Success program for underserved youth. The
Department has accredited programs in health and physical

KINESIOLOGY-GENERALIST
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / TENURE TRACK

Position: The
Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a
tenure-track position as a generalist in Kinesiology at the
assistant professor level, effective September 2012. Preferred
candidates will be expected to meet the traditional
requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and
professional work, and service to the University and
community. In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop
and participate in activities that support the University’s
strategic plan. This plan emphasizes three areas: a)
alternative modes of instructional delivery to include
off-campus and distance learning; b) the learning process,
i.e., innovative teaching strategies and/or research on how
students learn and apply knowledge over an extended period of
time; and c) partnership with the community to enhance social,
economic, and cultural conditions.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach
courses in the Kinesiology major. Additionally, the candidate
will teach some activity courses. Scholarly activities are
expected. An ability to develop a profile of extramural
funding is desirable. The candidate also will advise students
and serve on department, college and university committees.
Qualifications:
Earned degrees (including a Ph.D. or
equivalent) in Kinesiology/Physical Education or related area
are required. A documented commitment to excellence in
teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level is expected.
College level teaching experience is preferred.
