A new era is unfolding at the University of Calgary in Canada’s most enterprising city.   With our Eyes High  strategic plan we have set our sights on becoming a top five research-intensive Canadian university by our 50th anniversary in 2016.  We are committed to strengthening our research and scholarship, enriching the quality and breadth of learning, and fully integrating the University within the broader community. With more than 31,000 students in 14 Faculties, 85 Research Institutes and Centres, 6,500 faculty and staff members and new senior leadership, we are energized, ambitious and focused on our goals.

With an outstanding record of achievement in research and scholarship, the Faculty of Kinesiology is an integrated Faculty that offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs, one of the top interuniversity sports programs in the country, and a highly regarded campus recreation program. The Faculty is committed to training professionals with a strong foundation in the study of movement in both sport and physical activity with an overarching emphasis on health, both theoretically and practically. With outstanding faculty and staff, world-class facilities, an internationally recognized Sport Medicine Centre and relationships with the Canadian Sport Centre Calgary, Winsport Canada, Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute for Child and Maternal Health, the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Calgary Institute for Population and Public Health as well as provincial and national sport organizations and professional sports, the Faculty of Kinesiology is poised to become the preeminent faculty in Canada.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) and a member of the leadership team of the University, the new Dean of Kinesiology will be responsible for leading this ambitious and interdisciplinary Faculty to an even higher level of national and international prominence.  The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership abilities in an academic environment, an accomplished research and teaching record, fundraising skills, financial acumen and the ability to foster collaborative relationships both internally and with external stakeholders. The successful candidate must possess an advanced degree (PhD preferred).
