About the Position: The
Kinesiology and Physical Education
Program of the Physical Education, Health and Recreation (PEHR)
Department at
Western Washington University is seeking one full-time tenure
eligible
Assistant Professor beginning September 2012.
Responsibilities: The
Department, the College and the
University value teaching and expect each person hired to be an
exemplary
teacher (including use of effective strategies such as varied
teaching formats,
timely feedback, etc.); to be current in his/her discipline; to
engage students
actively in their own learning; to maintain high standards
regarding course
content; and to be available to students through regularly

in keeping with department policy. Those
hired are expected to participate in scholarly and/or creative
activity, and
perform career related services roles on and off campus.
It
is
also expected that the successful candidate be able to carry out

responsibilities:
Undergraduate
advising and supervision of field experience work
Advising
graduate students including thesis preparation and supervision
Supervising
graduate internships
Participate
in scholarly and/or creative activity
Perform

Required Qualifications:
PhD
or other terminal degree in kinesiology or a related field
Strong
commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship

About the Department: The PEHR
Department is one of the largest
departments at Western. There are
currently over 600 undergraduates enrolled in the three programs
of Health,
Recreation and Kinesiology and Physical Education. The
department’s faculty members are
dedicated to teaching, involved in research, and active
in professional organizations. The

About the Kinesiology and Physical
Education
Program: The Program serves
over 400 undergraduate majors and offers Specializations in
Movement Studies,
Sport Psychology, Health and Fitness Specialist, Pre-Physical
Therapy,
Pre-Healthcare Professions, and Pedagogy.
An undergraduate minor in Sport Psychology is also offered.
Additionally, the graduate program in Human
Movement and Performance offers two tracks, Sports Psychology and
Exercise
Science.

Doctoral

considered) in Exercise Science or related field.General qualifications include evidence of
scholarly activity;

publications, and knowledge of professional certifications in

Responsibilities:
Teaching
a variety of
graduate and undergraduate courses in the applied exercise
science curriculum
such as exercise programming, fitness assessment, and other
courses related to
expertise. Additionally, this position involves advising
graduate and
undergraduate students, oversight of graduate and undergraduate
research
projects/theses, pursuing an active scholarship agenda,
participation in
service to the university community, and involvement in
professional
organizations.

Position
Decription: We
are looking for a dynamic faculty member eager to teach,
mentor, and advise the next generation of exercise science
students.
Responsibilities:Teaching
responsibilities involve teaching undergraduate exercise
science courses in the area of clinical exercise physiology
(e.g., clinical exercise physiology, exercise testing and
prescription, testing and prescription for special
populations, etc…). All tenure-track faculty are
expected to demonstrate continuous activity in a defined
scholarly areas, and a willingness to involve and mentor
undergraduate students in research and public engagement
projects. Candidates will also be expected to serve on
departmental, college, and university committees, and provide
service to the profession and community. The position is
tenure track, nine months, with competitive salary and
possible summer employment. Qualifications: Candidates must
have an earned doctorate in exercise science or related field
from an accredited institution with clear demonstration of
skills in clinical exercise physiology (ABD considered).
Evidence of successful college teaching experience and/or
clinical experience; record of/or potential for scholarly
activity; potential to secure external funding; and
understanding and skill in the use of ACSM guidelines for
healthy and clinical populations. About
